Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was constructed to host 9th Asian Games held in year 1982 and later upgraded with latest state of art facilities for hosting Commonwealth Games-2010. The stadium is being maintained & utilized by SAI on behalf of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India, as part of legacy to promote & develop sports activities and to implement plans and schemes for the promotion of sports .

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is situated in New Delhi is one of the most famous and popular stadiums in India. It has been a witness to several important sports events.

This sports stadium that has hosted some major sports events was established in 1982 by the government of India. This stadium contains a wide range of stadiums that are required to hold various events including soccer and several others.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi previously organised cricket matches which include the match between India and South Africa and that between India and Australia.

A 9- Lane synthetic track with Football ground.
An innovative design for roof over seating tier has been provided. This is one of the largest membrane roof system in the world.
The supporting system for 71 m span projected PTFE membrane roof over seating tier independent but coherent with the existing retrofitting structure.
State-of-the-art technology for the system of sports lighting and public address.
The membrane of the roof can be illuminated during night hours with state-of-the-art façade lighting to relieve the spectators of monotony.
An air-conditioned tunnel for the performers inside the stadium.
Special retrofitting with steel jacketing of 512 columns.
Ring of Fire, lighting provided on the cat-walk of stadium to give glare free FOP lighting.
Façade lighting covering 54,000 sq m. of membrane which can provide a crown shape to the stadium
